NIGERIA : Union Bank, Comets, Yelwa, Nets Victorious

Weekend's hostilities in the DStv sponsored premier basketball league has thrown up some interesting results. Comets basketball club of Lagos posted a five-star performance to overcome Islanders also of Lagos by 70-58 points in the week-5 pairing at the sports hall of the national stadium, Lagos.
The game was a reverse fixture of the regular season of the league with the Coach Ayo Bakare tutored Comets winning the first and third quarters by 20-17 and 22-06 points while Islanders picked the second and fourth quarters by 21-15 and 14-13 points.
The win by Comets has brightened its chances in the league as it now enjoys a head-to-head advantage over Islanders which defeated Comets 64-60 in the season opener.
In the first game played yesterday, Union Bank played the game of its life to go past Customs 67-65 points (10-12, 19-13, 20-20 and 18-20).
A the Savannah Conference, Yelwa Hawks of Bauchi continued its fine run beating Tapgun Rockets at home by 67-62 points to maintain an unbeaten run while Bauchi Nets was the better side against visiting Civil Defenders of Abuja by 65-45 points to maintain its fourth placement on the conference log.
