UGANDA : Basketball returns with Friday Night Lights
New divides will emerge while some long standing rivalries will be bridged when season two of the Castle Lite Friday Night Lights gets underway tomorrow at YMCA court. The fun basketball tournament will pit usual teammates against one another and customary opponents will feature on the same sides.
Warriors’ duo of Eric Malinga and Ronnie Kasewu will each lead different teams. But at the fore of the new divides is the D-Mark Power quartet of Isaac Afridra, Joseph Ikong, Isaac Lugude and Ben Komakech who will all be on different teams just a couple of months after guiding Power to back-to-back league titles, the first in the club’s history.
But Ikong, who will be seeking to lead his team to successive tournament victories, is quick to dismiss any suggestion of “serious” rivalry.
“This is just a fun outing. Nothing serious,” said Ikong. “We are not even preparing. We shall just on court and ensure we put on a great show and have fun,” he added before revealing that he will again feature in the dunking competition.
To feature on a team of their choice, fans will be required to type FNL-Name-Team and send the SMS to 8198. Other fans, not fortunate enough to feature on any team, will take part in numerous challenges including free throw and the blind-folded throw challenges where they stand chances of winning numerous prizes including electronics and cash.
