Basketball in Africa

THIS year’s basketball playoffs will be spiced up with a new free style competition, according to Innocent Karuhije, the technical director of the national basketball federation (Ferwaba).

The competition will involve two teams of three players with each team allowed one player on the bench.
“This competition was inaugurated in the Youth Olympics Games in Singapore and was incorporated into the FIBA statute last year,” he said, before adding, “It has become popular in many parts of the world and we feel it’s time to give it ago.”
