RWANDA : Hoops league set for February
By Ostine Arinaitwe
KIGALI Basketball club will begin their title defense next month when the hoops league throws off.
According to the Secretary General of the Basketball Federation Jean Lucien Mugabo, the body’s General Assembly will meet this morning to set dates for the start of the league, playoff games and elections for the vacant posts of President, Vice President and Legal Advisor.
“The executive committee will meet tomorrow (today) to decide on a number of things like setting up dates for the league start, playoff games and elections for the vacant positions,” Mugabo said, adding that the federation’s attempts to secure a sponsor for the league have been futile.
The play-off games are a traditional curtain raiser for the league and will involve clubs that finished in the top four slots; Kigali Basketball Club, APR, Espoir and KIE (Kigali Institute of Education).
