UGANDA : UCU Canons Withdraw From Third-Place Playoff Game

UGANDA Christian University Canons have withdrawn from today's third-place playoff game against Miracle Eagles citing player injuries and the looming final examinations at the campus.

A Division one side, Canons e-mailed their decision to pull out of today's fixture after reviewing their squad and realising that minus the injured players, the team would be comprized of only six players(available) for the game.
"I regret to inform you that UCU Canons will not be able to participate in tomorrow night's(December 6th) 3rd place game at the YMCA. We have had a team player that needed to go home this past weekend and two injured players who we can't risk fielding before university games which begin in 10 days.
This leaves us with 6 healthy players who would rather study for final papers than play in the 3rd place game. I respect this decision as their future is more important than a 3rd place finish.
Sorry for the late notice on this. We simply could not predict how slowly our players would heal and the need of a player to travel home(Kenya) to be with family. Please, send Miracle Eagles our apologies and congratulations upon securing 3rd place."
The decision to withdraw means Miracle Eagles will now finish their 2011 National basketball league campaign in third place overall.
