UGANDA : Steady Warriors Crack Power's Speed Advantage

If it wasn't Steven Okias dragging his long strides through D'Mark Power's defence, it was Ivan Enabu bewildering his defender with his unmatched combination of pace and fabulous ball handling.

If the ball found Henry Malinga, he would sample from his endless array of low-post moves. His brother Eric Malinga, was meanwhile content to shoot the pull-up jumper every time Power's defence allowed him a look at the basket.
Basically, this was the story of Game 2 of the FUBA men's top division finals, which the Kyambogo Warriors won 80-61 Sunday to take a commanding 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven series. Power were simply outmatched all over the court.

Warriors flip switch on offense
With teamwork, late-game execution, a fast-paced offensive transition and great coaching the warriors have flipped the switch on Power. Warriors have dominated games 1 and 2 thanks to their clinical on-court execution, and they certainly benefitted from the passiveness of the league's best basketball talent (Benjamin Komakech-Power point guard).
And in the end, Kyambogo Warriors have taken the proverbial bull by the horns, and closed out D'Mark Power in impressive fashion in these past two games.
The rest of the story remains to be seen on December 7th when they meet for game 3 on whether Power can reverse their misfortunes and take advantage of their opponents' turnovers. And to do so, Power will have to take care of Warriors clutch player in Henry Malinga"We have better match ups, especially inside the paint," said Warriors coach Mandy Juruni post-match. Okias led Kyambogo with a game-high 17 points, Henry Malinga , Ronnie Kasewu and Eric Malinga adding 15, 11 and 10 respectively.
Enabu had a rare double-double with 10pts and 10rebs. Power's total score of 61 was their lowest this season. Many fans expected a much closer finals but Power have failed to show up.
To add onto the Power woes, the defending champions lost Robert Wanitho for the rest of the series after
the centre broke his right shin in the second quarter, a calamity that was handled deplorably given the lack of any on-site medics and an ambulance.
It's not over yet but the idea of Power winning four of the next five games looks improbable.
