TANZANIA : Pemba, Unguja Ladies March Into Taifa Cup Basketball Quarters

Pemba became the first region to sail through the women's quarterfinals of the Taifa Cup basketball championship going on at the Leaders Club grounds in Dar es Salaam.
Despite losing their last game to Mbeya by 58-74 points, Pemba made it to the quarters set to throw off starting Friday at the same venue.
Pemba who finished all its group matches qualified for the round after attaining five points when they won four out of five matches.
Mbeya's well experienced players Faraja Malaki and Nipael Kessy who carried the day despite some resistance from Pemba, who started slowly and picked up with quick and long passes.
Unguja who are in group B have also made it to the quarter finals after managing four points with two matches in hand.
So far the Mainland teams for the quarters are expected to be known on Wednesday. In Tuesday's men encounters Tabora humiliated Kilimanjaro by 102-58 points in a dull and one sided game at the same venue.
Tabora's Francis Mlewa and Tumsifu Apollo were instrumental for their team's victory as they scored 22 and 15 points respectively.
