KEYA : KPA lose second tie against First Bank .
KENYA Ports Authority (KPA) were felled 93-49 by Nigerian side First Bank in the ongoing 17th Africa women’s Club Championships in Nigeria on Monday. The victors, playing before their delirious home crowd, started off the hunt with a huge 27-7 lead in the first quarter and never looked back as subjecting the porters to another humiliating day. The second quarter was not any better for the Kenyan girls as they trailed 17-7 for 44-14 advantage at the break. After resumption, First Bank, who are the 2009 Africa champions then dictated the tempo taking a 22-12 edge in the third quarter. They build their biggest lead of the game to 47 points and this came as early as the third minute of the third quarter.
KPA, like they did in their opener against Inter Club of Angola on Sunday, rallied in the fourth quarter, making respectable scores but they still trailed 23-27 as the Nigerians dictated the tempo early. KPA, who were whipped 81-37 by reigning champions Inter Club in their opening fixtures, had 12 points from speedy guard Mwajuma Suleiman while forwards Mercy Wanyama and Miriam Awuor combined for another 17 points haul. For the Nigerians, Ukato Magdalene made 16 and Udo Imaoboga hit 16 points each with Sadiq Rashedat making 11. In other games of the day, host club First Deepwater of Nigeria were awarded a 20-0 walkover win over INJS Cameroon failed to show while Inter Club humiliate compatriots GD Maculosso 80-30.
