KENYA : Upper Hill School Emerge the NBA League Champs

UPPER Hill School are the 2011 Nairobi Basketball Association provincial league champions. The students who finished runners up in last year's title race, pipped Kenya Airways 79-75 to claim the crown in a tight Game Four tie at Nyayo National Stadium gymnasium. They took the best of five series 3-1.

Upper Hill trailed by 17 points before staging staggering heroics to become the first school side to win the title. The two teams had gained promotion in Mombasa in a match won 49-45 by Kenya Airways. The champions trailed in the opening three quarters, 14-18, 13-17 and 19-21 before picking themselves up and shooting past the losers with a 33-19 margin to take the decisive quarter.
Joseph Ongoro managed 13 points, Eric Ouma shot 14 while Dominic Osale, declared the MVP bagged game high 24 for Peter Orero's boys who finished fifth in regular season. Rogers Mutai made 14 points, Emmanuel Ekai had 15 while Eric Odhiambo bagged 16 for Airways who finished with the best record in the post season losing only one game.

The ladies title was taken by Safe Spaces who beat Africa Nazarene University 3-0. Barclays Bank of Kenya and Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (Jkuat) finished in third in men and women categories.
