KENYA : ‘Terrorists’ back in top tier after years in the lower league .

UNIVERSITY of Nairobi “Terrorists” are back in the national Premier League after years in the lower division. The campus lads who played at the top level in the 90’s booked their ticket over the weekend when they shut out Nairobi Aviation College (NAC) 2-0 to complete a sweep of the play-offs semi-finals series.

UoN dismissed NAC 52-42 at Nyayo, a feat which followed a 51-46 win in Game One at the same venue a week ago. They will now face Kisumu Lake-side in a match to determined lower division winners. The team’s tactician Emmanuel “Ajush” Ochieng, who took over the reigns a year ago, attributed the achievement to hard work and discipline. “When the season started we had a meeting as a team and set ourselves promotion target.
Our prayers have been answered and I commend the boys for a job well done,” he said. “The good thing about this team is that the top cream will still be available when the next season starts. Most of my players are second year students and this should provide continuity for the team next year,” he said.
