Mombasa Sports Club's women's basketball team won the Coast Basketball League at the weekend by thrashing Mombasa Polytechnic University College 71-17 at the Mombasa Baptist High School.

While Mombasa Sports Club were celebrating the title they last won in 2009, Makupa Lakers maintained a tight grip on the men's trophy by beating hard-fighting Mombasa Baptist High School 65-58 in a tension-charged match which could have gone either way.
The ladies final as expected was once again a one sided affair as Mombasa Sports club, mostly comprising of players from Unicef sponsored Shimba Hills Secondary School ladies basketball team, dominated the final from the word go and never looked back.

MSC started well with Primrose Asurra, Margaret Ndirangu and Evelyn Atieno combining well for a huge 19 - 00 first quarter lead but made changes in the second quarter allowing the polytechnic students back into the game for 9-4 score to lead 28-04 at the break.
Backed by 18ts from Ndirangu and 10 points from Mercy Jerotich, M.S.C exploded in the third quarter.
