UGANDA : Enabu Syndrome Drowns Titans

IVAN Enabu earned himself the bragging rights as the best point guard in the FUBA basketball league after he inspired the Kyambogo Warriors past 67-60 a struggling KIU Titans on Saturday night.

Unstoppable on the night, Enabu scored a game high 18 points, eight assists, five rebounds and five steals to convincingly go home with the man-of-the-match accolade as his side registered a 15th league win to remain on top of the table standings.
But enabu downplayed his individual brilliance on the night in preference for team effort.
"We thank God so much because we played as a team and we won the game," explained an excited Enabu after the game.
Warriors dominated the first half sinking 23-18 and 17-10 but were outscored 14-10 and 18-17 in the third and fourth quarters despite the much needed win.
"We did not play good defense today but we shall work on that during the week," admitted Mande Juruni, the Warriors head coach.
Henry Malinga and Michael Kariuki added 15 and 12 points respectively for the 2009 league champions while Titans' skipper Abraham Juma scored a team high 15 points for the university side but could not inspire them to victory.
Teammates Martin Taylor, Moses Olobo and Brian Wati sunk 13, 13 and 11 points each in that order but failed to register a seventh league win. KIU has played 16 games, six wins and 10 losses but still has hopes of making it to the playoffs.
"We did not play well today but we have to keep up with the focus and win our remaining games," said an expectant Nimrod Kaboha, the KIU coach.
