NIGERIA : First Deepwater Humble Immigration 75-57
Defending champion of the Nigeria Basketball Federation organised Zenith Bank Women league First Deepwater basketball club of Lagos yesterday recorded another win over Nigeria Immigration basketball club of Kano in the final phase of the league with a 75-57 points victory.
The Oil and Gas ladies put the game beyond the reach of the Immigration ladies in the first two quarters by 20-15 and 22-09 points for a half-time scores of 42-24 points.
The Babatunde Babalola babes however shared the last two quarters with the Kano-based Immigration side by 15-15 and 18-18 points for a final score-line of 75-57.
First Deepwater golden girl and Nigeria international guard Nkechi Akashili led her team charge for honours with 25 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists, Juliet James had a double double effort of 15 rebounds and 10 points while point guard Atosu Upe poured in 14 points, 7 assists and 4 rebounds to help their side maintain a clean slate.
Former champion First Bank basketball club of Lagos also posted another fantastic win with a 68-17 points decision of FCT Queens, AHIP had the better of Nigeria Customs Service basketball club of Lagos by 60-30 points. Plateau Rocks went down to Sunshine Angels of Akure by 37-66 points as Delta Force of Asaba kissed the floor to Dolphins of Lagos by 57-64 points.
