NIGERIA : First Bank in Flying Start
First Bank female basketball team posted a sparkling performance in the ongoing Zenith female basketball championship in Lagos.
The team comprising majority of the national female team members humiliated Plateau Rocks ladies by 70 points margin winning at 96 to 26 points.
The Coach Owolo ladies won in all the quarters at 20-7, 28-8, 21-8 and 27-3 to lead their group.
First Bank coach said after the match that they are poised to regain the title lost to First Deepwater last year.
"We know the task will be a Herculean one, but we are prepared for the battle to regain our number one position in the country. The girls are in good shape are they ready for any opposition," he said.
In the other matches played earlier in the day, the defending champion, First Deepwater defeated Sunshine Ladies of Akure 68-58 points
First Deepwater won the match by 17-16, 9-13, 17-17 and 22-17. Also on Thursday, Delta Queens beat Ahip by 54 to 49 points while Dolphins blew away Immigration by 69-43 points.
The championship which being played in a round robbin comes to an end next weekend.
