KENYA : Upper Hill Beat KQ to Level NBA Play-Offs

UPPER Hill School beat Kenya Airways 58-49 in the 2011 Nairobi Basketball Association (NBA) finals Game Two at World Hope. The win saw the students tie the five game series at 1-1. KQ pipped Upper Hill 63-62 in Game One last weekend. The students with head teacher Peter Orero calling the shots got off to a worst start trailing 10-14 in the first quarter and 9-25 in the second quarters.

But they picked themselves up and took a 19-6 third quarter edge and another 21-8 stunner in fourth quarter that left left kq grounded. Dominic Osale made 20 points and Tony Majok added 11 while Eric Ouma made good defensive contributions for the winners. The losers had 12 each from Eric Odhiambo and Emmanuel Ekai. In the women final played at the same venue, Safe Spaces moved closer to sealing the series with a 47-45 win over Africa Nazarene University (ANU).
Both teams tied 12-12 in a hotly contested first quarter. The winners shot up 15-9 in the second. ANU charged back taking the third 14-3 before defensive lapses saw Safe Spaces speed away 17-10 in the last quarter. Florence Mbithe sunk 17 while Peninah Nthenya made 9 before fouling out. Sarah Gitongu managed 10 that went with some key rejects. Mary Adhiambo and Lydia Imbali collected 8 each for the losers.
