KENYA : Makupa Lakers Sink Fighting Coastal Kings

MAKUPA Lakers defeated Coastal Kings 63-51 to sail through to the semi-finals of the ongoing Coast Basketball League over the weekend. Lakers were determined to fight for victory right from the start as they dominated all the quarters of the game at Mombasa Baptist High School court.

The match paved way for another one pitting Gorofani Raptors and Mombasa Polytechnic University College that saw the academicians fall 79-62 to let the Raptors proceed to the semis. Mombasa Baptis, the only high school representatives, utilised their home advantage to squeeze past Kisauni Kings 55-54 in a match full of fireworks from both sides.
Wazee from Mombasa Island were silenced 70-93 by visiting Kiembeni Hits from Kisauni constituency who swiftly booked a ticket to the semis of the league that ends this month. CBA chair, Ali Hilmy, who witnessed the matches said the winners of the competition were set to bag cash awards as well as trophies. Hilmy said "The dates of the semis will be communicated to all the participants and fans in due course".
