With his team on the brink of defeat, forward Abraham Juma stood for KIU Titans to overcome Charging Rhino 67-65 in a relegation humdinger in the MTN-Fuba League at YMCA court on Saturday night.
Juma, who finished with 20 points and seven rebounds, sank two late two pointers including a winning basket 12 seconds to the end of the game. Teammate Joshua Etalu laid the foundation scoring 15 points and nine rebounds while Moses Olobo added 13 and three assists to beat Rhino and ease their relegation fears.
“We executed both offensive and defensive rebounds from the beginning of the game and that is why we triumphed. I am happy with the result although we made a few mistakes in the last quarter,” said KIU Titans’ coach Nimrod Kaboha. His team won the first two periods 25-11 and 11-10 but Rhino recovered to clinch the final quarters 19-15 and 24-17.
