RWANDA : Lady Hoops Lose to Angola in Maputo
RWANDA women basketball lost their third match of the group stage action against Angola in the basketball competition of the All Africa games being staged in Maputo.
The women hoops lost the game 34-57 and afterwards the team's assistant coach Jean Claude Rutabayire slammed the games organizers for poor organisation which according to him was partly to blamed for the loss.
Rutabayire said yesterday, "Our performance was not at par compared to our previous matches. The players played poorly but for genuine reasons."
"We spent over two hours in a traffic jam; players never had breakfast. The organization of the games is very poor to the extent that essential necessities are not really given much attention.
"With two matches left against Mali and Senegal, we hope to win both to reach the quarter finals. The morale of our players is high and this keeps us focused on the task ahead," added Rutabayire.
Rwanda conceded the group lead to Angola.
Rwanda has won twice and lost one in the competition. They face Mali this afternoon before winding up the group stage against Senegal on Wednesday.
