UGANDA : Two qualify for NBA entourage
Finally after a three-month search and two-day scouting at YMCA, the Sprite scouting team has selected two players for the NBA entourage. Japeth Muhanguzi from Green Hill Academy and Jonah Otim of Lubiri Secondary School will be part of the National Basketball Association (NBA) and FIBA elite development camp, Basketball without Borders (BWB) Africa, to be held in Johannesburg from September 1-4.
The two stars will leave for South Africa later this month for a seven-day contest where they will face other 58 players from different countries in Africa. Their training in South Africa will be conducted by Glen Rice and Martin McBridge, both retired American professional basketball players, and a sprite scouting team.
“The sky is the limit,” an excited Muhanguzi, who also attempted last year but failed, said. “It is so exciting and I am thankful to the NBA scouting team. We are going out and we have to work very hard.”
