MALAWI : Sozobal posts up for grabs
Basketball Association of Malawi (Basmal) has asked the basketball fraternity to vie for Southern Zone Basketball League (Sozobal) executive positions which are up for grabs.
Sozobal will hold its annual general meeting at Blantyre Youth Centre on September 10 where new office bearers would be ushered in.
Basmal vice president Ben Mlasaanthu said time was high for others to try their luck at Sozobal.
“In recent times some members have been accusing Sozobal members of failing to solicit sponsorship. Its time they become executive members so that they should see what happens inside. Maybe they have keys to help the committee secure sponsorship,” he said.
Mlasaanthu said his sentiments should not be misconstrued by outgoing members.
“I am neither attacking outgoing members nor backing them. I know that the outgoing om mittee tried its part to run the league without sponsorship,” he said.
Sozobal outgoing general secretary Hope Chisamanga said those interested to vie for positions should present their application letters to Basmal secretariat.
Chisamanga admitted that it was tough running a league which had no sponsors.
Meanwhile, league action will continue this weekend with leaders Bricks set to meet defending champions Magang’a at Chancellor College on Sunday.
In another match on the same day, Chanco Hawks will face Crazy Warriors.
