UGANDA : Maryhill in USA for Youth event
The basketball teams of Maryhill High School and St. Mary’s College Namagunga are representing Uganda at the Intercontinental Youth Sports Championship that opened in Cleveland, Ohio on Thursday in the United States of America.
The five students of Maryhill High are being led by the school headmistress Ms Margret Atim, accompanied by the school basketball’s coach Mr Denis Katungye.
They are Mercy Omega, Faith Dorothy Ahurira, Melody Musiimenta, Martha Atuhairwe and Bredget Natukunda.
Ms Atim, while briefing the press at National Council of Sports office at Lugogo Kampala said the school was invited to participate in the intercontinental showpiece after being identified among the best teams in East Africa.
The sixth annual Continental Cup International Youth Sports Festival tips off today in Greater Cleveland.
The Greater Cleveland Sports Commission will host the four-day event, presented by Cleveland Clinic Sports Health.
The Cup consists of three sports — soccer, baseball and basketball for teams around the United States and internationally.
