Guard Colin Mukiza made a lay-up with four seconds left to give Miracle a comeback 68-67 victory over Falcons in an MT-Fuba League Division One encounter at YMCA on Sunday night.
Mukiza had only five points in the game but his crucial effort must have left new Miracle coach Joe Burua, who could only watch from the stands, thrilled.
Falcons thought they had won the game when Joel Mika made two go-ahead free throws with 15 seconds on the clock. Despite starting the better side to take first quarter 19-11, Miracle faded in the second to trail by four (30-34) heading into the break.
They just couldn’t match Richard Osano Omondi. The forward scored a game-high 21 points and eight rebounds and Richard Elongat (15) was dominating the inside.
Francis Kasekende led Miracle with 16 points while Francis Tumusiime (12) announced his return to form. That lessened the burden on Stephen Omony (7-10) and Norman Blick (8).
