KENYA : Its Delight as champions KPA fall to Western

NAIROBI (Premier League) - Western Delight pulled off a major shock in the women's premier league when they stunned reigning champions Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) 34-32 in a premier league clash at Police Canteen in Kakamega.

The low scoring encounter saw KPA take a 6-5 and 9-8 lead in the first two quarters. KPA hung on 14-13 in the third before things took a dramatic twist in the last two with Delight, urged on by their delirious home fans, went wild in the fourth, which they took 13-3.
Ghyslaine Uwimana broke a 32-32 deadlock with 14 seconds.
Nancy Atieno was a constant menace to the dockers, while on the scoreboard Mirram Awuor and Hellen Oketch led with 13 and 11 respectively.
Strathmnore University maintained their unbeaten run in the women premier league when they pipped Gladiators 45-40 in a closely fought duel.
The students raced out of the blocks building a double digit margin before Gladiators battled back to 21-24 at the break.
I a nip and tuck third and fourth quarters, Gladiators took a lead only for the fitter students to take over the proceedings with a few minutes left breaking off a 39-39 tie.
Faith Owich collected game high 26 points, while for Gladiators Getrude Sagala and Pam Cinda scored 10 apiece.

Sprite Storms battled to a 47-39 win over Co-operative Bank of Kenya in another good game. The bankers, who have changed guard took a 23-17 advantage at the breather.
Faustina Mandu and Sally Bosire nailed 10 each but the driving factor was Angela Luchiva. Irene Makori scored Co-op's 15,including all the teams 12 in the last quarter.

In the men's league, KPA had 25 points from Dan Okwirri and 17 from Sameul Odera and 14 from Tony Okello as they nipped home boys Masinde Muliro University of Agriculture sand Technology (MMUST) 69-66.

Ben Oluoch scored 19 and Bryan Shivachi hit 14 to guide Nairobi Aviation College (NC) to a convincing 63-46 win over Kenya polytechnic University who had 10 from Bryan Malinga.

Trailblazers won 58-42 over Africa Nazaree University (ANU). On form Shem Otieno poured in 24 points for the winners with Andrew Kihumba hitting 14 for ANU.
