RWANDA : Green Hills sweep inter-schools basketball competitions
By Ostine Arinaitwe
GREEN Hills Academy displayed their muscle in the Gasabo post primary schools basketball competitions after winning the senior boys’ and girls’ titles.
The Nyarutarama based school defeated IFAK (Institute De Formation Apostolique De Kimihurura) 53-52 in the boys’ category, while last year’s champions Fawe Girls School suffered a 19-27 defeat.
The captain of the boys’ team Eder Munyampenda attributes the triumph to hard work.
“We put in a lot of effort because we had never won this competition. The training was intensive but our desire to triumph was the difference,” the 16-year-old said.
Rivera won the boys’ crown last year.
Green Hills will now represent Gasabo District in the national post primary basketball competition.
