RWANDA’s national women team yesterday produced a magnificent performance to edge over a determined Ugandan side after a 74-59 win in the penultimate match of the Zone five qualifiers.
The women’s team entertains Kenya this afternoon with high hopes of finishing the tournament unbeaten after wins over Tanzania, Burundi and Ethiopia.
In the other matches Ethiopia (women) was defeated 93-59 by Kenya, while Tanzania got a 89-47 thrashing from Burundi. Kenya saw off Burundi 72-63 in the only men’s match played yesterday.
Meanwhile the men’s team will be looking to get a 100% record in the tournament when they play Kenya this evening in the last game of the Zone five qualifiers.
The team posted convincing wins over Uganda, Tanzania and Ethiopia and Coach Vaceslav Kavedzija will be confident of a repeat performance.
