NIGERIA : DStv PBL: Warriors subdue Police, Islanders pick first win

2009/2010 DStv Premier Basketball League finalist, Dodan Warriors basketball club Monday defeated Police Baton basketball club by 68-62 points at the sports hall of the national stadium, Lagos in a local derby.
The Coach Mark Balogun Baton looked as if they were going to run away with victory when they took the lead with less than two minutes on the clock but a spirited drive-in from the Edwin Jerry captained Warriors side did the magic as they (Warriors) eventually subdue the Police side to record a second win in the league.
Dodan Warriors now has a 2-0 record thus looking good to grab a final-8 playoff ticket while Baton a lucky finalist last year now has a 0-2 record having lost its two games.
Also on Monday Islanders basketball club shakes off an initial threat from Chariots basketball club to pick its first win with a 64-49 points victory over the newly promoted side.
Islanders who could not broke off the challenge poised by the Chariots side in the first three quarters of the game as the Chariots side match them grit-for-grit but the former champion broke loss in the last quarter after falling back on experience to out-play the Chariots side coached by the duo of Coaches Emmanuel Okolo and Wale Mohammed
