KENYA : It’s make or break in basketball Game Two semis
Five make-or-break men and women’s national basketball play-offs semi-final Game Two matches are on the card at the Nairobi’s Nyayo National Stadium on Saturday starting at 9am.
Posta will lead four other teams which got off to a flying start by winning their opening Game One matches of the best-of-three series in Nairobi, Mombasa and Nakuru last weekend.
Another win for, Kenya Ports Authority men and women’s teams, Posta, Ulinzi Warriors and Trail Blazers will see them qualify for the 2010 play-offs finals on a 2-0 run.
But should the losers; men’s champions KCB Lions, Co-op Bank, Nakuru Club, Mennonites and Strathmore women’s team rise to the occasion to tie the series 1-1, the decisive Game Three matches to separate them are scheduled for the same venue on Sunday.
KPA men’s side caused the play-offs major upset beating champions KCB Lions 87-71 in Mombasa while the dockwomen also humiliated Strathmore University 79-36.
Posta had Ancette Wafula pouring in game-high 19 points as they rocked Co-operative Bank 74-68, Ulinzi Warriors shot down hosts Nakuru Club 68-58 at Menengai High School in Nakuru while Trail Blazers shocked favourites Mennonites 70-67.
Pressure will be on KCB Lions, who must beat KPA to avoid an embarrassing 2-0 exit in this year’s competition.
