TANZANIA : Arusha in final preparations for northern zone tourney
Dar es Salaam. Arusha is in the advanced stage of preparations for this year’s Northern Zone Basketball Championship set to start next Friday at the Sheikh Amri Abeid Stadium courts.
Arusha Basketball Association (ARBA) secretary general Alijua Mwakalinga told The Citizen that eight teams from four regions would compete in the three-day tournament.
He named the regions that have already submitted their confirmations as Manyara, Kilimanjaro, Tanga, and host Arusha.
Mwakalinga reminded other interested regions to confirm their participation before tomorrow to enable the association draw up fixtures.
“This is an open tournament, so I request all teams which are interested to take part to confirm early,” he said.
Even so, the official called upon various firms to come forward to support the organising committee.
“We still need some assistance to stage the best tournament, thus I request all companies to market themselves through sponsoring this event,” he said.
