TANZANIA : Trio commends NBA’s basketball drive

Vijana City Bull youth Alpha Kisusi has promised to use a training tour in US to spearhead the Tanzania’s campaign develop basketball.
Kisusi and four others who were last weekend selected to tour US together with bets players from four African counties, commended efforts championed by National Basketball Association (NBA) in its inspirational clinics.
He said both NBA-backed clinics conducted by a Tanzanian Hasheem Thabeet and American Steve Smith successfully reached their desired goals.
“ It was a well organised clinic that offered us additional skills in both physical and tactical formats,” he said during their yesterday visit at Mwananchi Communication Limited.
Others travelling to US are Sunday Andrew and Evans Davis while Taher Abdu and Kiguma Jibrea were picked as reserve players.
The young Tanzanians will join others from Angola, Kenya, Uganda and Mozambique.
The players, who qualified to attend the training were those excelled in the inaugural clinic conducted by Hasheem Thabeet, the Tanzanian who trade his skills with Memphis Grizzlies.
Kisusi and mates are featuring for Vijana City Bulls, one of the basketball giants in Tanzania.
The clinic targets schoolboys and girls plus coaches.
The American led the players in stretching, full-court warm-up, jump shots and lay out techniques.
