NIGERIA : Pillars Win DSTV Top 8

Kano Pillars have once again proved their supremacy in Nigeria’s basketball with their success at the NBBF/DSTV Super 8, as they defeated Royal Hooper of Port Harcourt to win the week-long championship yesterday.

Kano Pillars, who had twice won the Super 8, had a narrow victory over the Hoopers with a 78-77 point win at the Civic Centre, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria.

An elated chief coach of the champions, Sani Ahmed told P.M.Sports after the match that “with what we saw this evening (yesterday), the future of the game in the country is bright. I have to give kudos to the Local Organising Committee for packaging one of the best final-eight tourneys this year.”

He noted that the final was one of the toughest his side played on the local scene in recent times, as the Hoopers gave them a good run for their money.

Ogoh Odaudu, Head Coach of the Hoopers was disappointed losing the match, but he was glad the team secured a ticket to play at the FIBA-Africa Club Championship later in the year.

The winners, apart from the trophy, received N1million; Hoopers got N500,000, while Union Bank, who beat Dodan Warriors 80-74 points to finish third, went home with N300,000.

Sunglasses and contactless payments: They go together like music festivals and contactless payments. At least, that's the idea behind the WaveShades, a new Cheap Toms Shoes contactless payment system built into sunglasses and born from a partnership between Australian startup Inamo, sunglasses-maker Local Suppy and Visa. The Oakley Outlet prototype tap-and-go sunglasses are being rolled out ahead of Australia's Laneway music festivals, presumably so you'll only need to worry about keeping track of the No. 1 thing you are most likely to lose at a day-night music festival. Local Supply has locally supplied the sunglasses and Inamo has provided the secure NFC payment chip, built into the arm of the Cheap Christian Louboutin glasses. The secure payment chip was first developed for the Inamo Curl, itself a waterproof dongle that can be attached to watches or fitness bands to enable tap-and-go payments anywhere the Cheap Ray Ban Visa Paywave contactless payment system is available. But just think of what tap-and-go sunglasses add to the mix. Make a pun every time you pay for something, CSI: Miami-style. Finally have a legitimate reason to wear sunglasses at night. Actually, that's all we've got so far.
