UGANDA : Sprite stars to train in NBA
The most outstanding players at the Sprite Schools Basketball Championship stand a lifetime chance of participating in a National Basketball Association (NBA) training camp in America in October.
The schools tournament, expected to attract 25 teams, throws off this weekend at Majansi High School, Tororo.
“Our technical team will select the best 30 players during the tournament,” Coca-cola promotions manager Kennedy Mutenyo told Daily Monitor yesterday.
Coca-Cola are sponsoring the activities under their Sprite brand.
Best three
“The 30 will join some others for a training camp in Kampala. We shall then select the best three to be taken to USA for the NBA camp,” he added. “Last year we took five players to a camp in South and we are now raising the stakes.”
The tournament at Majansi begins with screening on Sunday before action proper gets underway Monday. “Being an invitational tournament, we shall kit all teams and take care of their upkeep,” Mutenyo noted.
Ssaku and Buddo SS are the boys and girls’ defending champions
