MIGERIA : All Stars Match: Stakeholders Commend NBBF
The Tijani Umar-led board of the Nigeria Basketball Federation, NBBF, has added a new dimension to the game in the country with the staging of All-Stars Match at the Indoor Sports Hall of Murtala Square Sports Complex in Kaduna State, Nigeria.
Stakeholders of the sport have been commending the board for the innovation which they say will further improve the game in the country.
Former President of the federation, Senator U.K. Umar told P.M.Sports that basketball had never had it so good, adding that it could only get better if innovations like the All Stars Match are organised regularly.
Agboola Pinheiro said the sports event shows that the board is heading towards a positive direction. He added that the country can now boast of having a pool of players that can be called up to represent Nigeria at short notice.
He commended the board for the innovation and urged the players to keep working hard to improve their game now that they have a board that is ready to develop the game.
The All-Stars Game, which served as a stop-gap for the one-week break of the NBBF/ DSTV Premier League, was used to create a frontier among players of the two conferences (Atlantic and Savannah ). Atlantic conference went on to win the game by 93-82 points.
The President of the federation, Tijani Umar expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the match and promised that the federation will continue to uphold the importance of the All-Stars Match.
