UGANDA : UCU take on Riders
Kampala
Today at YMCA
Berkley v Falcons (8.30pm)
UCU v Riders (5.30pm)
Women
Crane v KIU (7pm)
The thrill of watching two masters of transitional basketball is the attraction in the MTN-Fuba League at YMCA court, Wandegeya this evening as UCU Canons face Knight Riders. Though similar in style, the two teams are totally different is term of execution and success. As UCU have romped to a perfect seven, Entebbe-based Riders have only won two of their opening eight games.
Unbeaten UCU
With KIU Titans and Mountain Dew Falcons still to come, UCU have a good chance of finishing the first round unbeaten thereby boosting their play-off hopes. In the flamboyance of Ivan and Jimmy Enabu plus bit-part guards Sande Okot and Steven Mwesigye, aided by the experience Geoff Omondi, Riders will need a big performance to stop UCU.
After stuttering to their first defeat of the season, Mountain Dew Falcons are seeking quick response when they face lowly Berkley in the late game. Falcons lost 74-72 to DMark Power on Friday as their star cast struggled to keep up with the pace. Even in the lean contest, Richard Osano Omondi, Bienvenu Ngandu, Sudi Mulunga and Peter Elungat sneaked into double figures.
The quartet will be a handful for a Berkley side yet to win a game in their first season of topflight basketball. Elsewhere, Crane High and KIU Rangers clash in the women’s division.
