UGANDA : Can Nkumba get back on their feet?
By Usher Kyomugisha
Men
Riders v Nkumba 5:30pm
Rhino v Rocks 2:30pm
TLC v Stormers11:30am
Kings v Ssaku 10am
Women
Stormers v Cubs 4pm
Amazon v Bucks 1pm
THE Nkumba Marines will be seeking to return to winning ways today against a relegation-threatened Knight Riders side that has won 1/6 games so far this season.
The Marines last registered an MTN FUBA league win on April 30 and since then have suffered at the hands of a newly-rejuvenated UCU team, not-so-impressive D’Mark Power and the reigning league champions, Kyambogo Warriors.
The Entebbe derby has a lot of importance attached to it considering that a win for Timothy Odeke’s boys will brighten their play-offs hopes while a fifth loss for the Riders will push them into further trouble.
Odeke will focus on stopping the Riders’ transition that yields most of their points as well as stopping their substantial shooting outside the arc.
He explained that Nkumba “are going to bank on experience, talent and picking both the offensive and defensive rebounds.”
Meanwhile in the ladies category, the Magic Stormers will be looking to make a comeback after losing to UCU in a one-sided game that earned them their third loss this season. They will sure pick points off a young struggling Cubs side.
