Seven countries were expected to take part but only four countries -- Angola, Malawi, Mozambique and Zimbabwe -- confirmed their participation to FIBA Africa while Botswana, Swaziland and Zambia are yet to do so.
Laddy Munetsi, who is the Zimbabwe boys' team coach, said preparations have been going on well and they were raring to go.
"We have had training camps and we have been practicing for the past month.
"The players have been responding very well, the level of confidence is high and we are ready for the games," said Munetsi.
The girls' team manager Farai Kanyenze is also oozing with confidence.
"This year we have height and the girls are now playing well. Basically the players are getting there. "The girls have been putting their time into these preparations and parents have been supportive," said Kanyenze.
