Basketball in Africa

THE Lesotho Basketball Association Executive Committee has taken over the National Basketball League and will resume with league tournaments from the 27th February 2010.

This comes after a meeting held at Lesotho Sports and Recreation Commission on Tuesday 2nd of February 2010. The Executive Committee has found it important that they do something since the National Basketball League is inactive.

The Executive Committee held a meeting after the League failed the resume with fixtures on 15th January, and failed to hand over to the National Basketball Committee last year November.

Due to time constraints, NBC will resume with fixtures in the form of mini tournaments starting from the 27th February 2010 in Maseru and the venue will be announced at a later stage, the second tourney will be in Mafeteng on the 03rd next month.

There will be eight men’s clubs in all and three women’s clubs to take part in the tournaments.

The tournaments will be in remembrance of the late brothers Moeketsi and Lereko Taole of Mohalalitoe Maseru, Moeketsi died while he was in Cuba doing Sports Management and Lereko died in South Africa.

“The tournaments will be sponsored by Action Group in Sports Association.
