UGANDA : Coaches to form body
By Sande Bashaija
Local basketball coaches will next week form an association in a bid to have a say in running the game.
“We plan to form an executive and get going immediately,” Kyambogo Warriors head coach Gad Eteu told Daily Monitor yesterday.
The coaches will converge at Victory Christian Church in Ntinda for a refresher course starting on Monday.
“The course will last three days. After that we shall have examinations and thereafter hold elections for our association,” Eteu, the Kyambogo Warriors coach, revealed.
Coaches have for long complained that the local governing body, Fuba, doesn’t involve them in administrative affairs of the sport.
Formation of an association seems to be one of the measures the coaches are taking to change the situation. “It’s necessary that we come together and share our views about development of basketball in the country,” Eteu noted.
