TANZANIA : Don Bosco claim 7UP hoops title
By Brown Msyani
Don Bosco edged out PTW 15-12 to win the 7UP Basketball Ladies Championship at Mlimani City on Sunday.
Inspirational players Sajda Ahmed and Hadija Kalambo slammed four points apiece to steer their side to the victory.
Gutsy PTW, who relied on Joyce Midodi and Nipael Kessy, fought desperately, but their efforts did not guarantee them the title.
Midodi troubled Don Bosco defence throughout the match, but her late three points were not enough to help her team win.
The tournament that was sponsored by SBC attracted 18 teams.
Durban Hotel, who pitted their wits against Southern Sun, managed to eclipse their rivals by 26-13 points to claim the men's title.
Wide experiences of the likes of William Mziray, Okare Onesmo and Lusajo Samuel help Durban finish the first half leading 13-1.
However, Southern Sun changed their tactics in the second half to add 12 points that wrapped up the score.
Mziray fired six points to emerge the match's top scorer followed by Okare Onesmo who chalked up five.
