24th AFCCM (Q/Finals): APR subdue Interclub, book semi-final ticket
Host of the 2009 edition of the final round of the FIBA Africa Champions Club for Men, APR Lions basketball club of Rwanda Saturday made it through to the semi-final with 99-80 points’ victory over Interclub basketball club of Congo Brazzaville.
The Kigali-based side subdue their opponent in all four quarters by 26-14, 24-19, 23-22 and 26-25 points to set up a semi-fnal confrontation against the winner of the last quarter-final game between Kano Pillars basketball club of Nigeria and defending champion, Primeiro d’Agosto basketball club of Angola at 17h00 Sunday.
APR Lions points guard, Cedric Isom led the floor with 22 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists, Robert Thomson contributed 17 points, 5 rebounds and 3 block-shot while the trio of Mathew Miller, Michael Bazangu and Karim Mkusi added 18, 14 and 10 points each to give their first ever semi-final birth for their side.
