UGANDA : KIU tests for playoff series
By Charles Mutebi
MTN-FUBA League
Today at YMCA
Men's division 1: KIU v Ndejje
KIU Rangers take on D’Mark Power in the first playoff semifinals of the MTN-FUBA men’s division one on Friday, but Nimrod Kaboha’s side still has unfinished business in the regular season.
The Kasanga-based university team take on the Ndejje Angels today at YMCA in a contest that will give them the chance to put some final touches on any plans for Game One of their best of five series against Power.
Yet KIU boss Kaboha may not want to give away much because it is likely that a certain section of the stands will have Power ‘spies’.
Power aside, Kaboha will be wary of exposing his players to injury at such a critical time because having a star hurt in a game of no big significance may reduce their chances of getting past the defending champions.
For Ndejje, this will be the final game of a season that has been largely successful. Even if Walker Obedi’s side have not made the playoffs, to win six games in their maiden season in the first division was impressive.
