If the star players of the Pyramid Boys, Stanley Gumut, Abubakar Usman, Abubakar Yusuf, Ahmad Dauda, Mustapha Yusuf and Idris Abdul maintain their tempo, it may eventually retain the trophy it won last year.
However, some of the players who spoke on condition of anonymity sent a passionate appeal to Kano state government to look into their plight by improving their welfare packages in order to keep the flag flying in the league.
Kano Pillars basketball team emerged winners of the FIBA Africa Zone 3 Club Championship qualifier, after winning the league last year which gave the team chance of representing Nigeria and West Africa in Tunisia.
