NIGERIA : The Alantic Conference
The Ogoh Odaudu tutored side, who maintained their unbeaten run at the conference in the ongoing DSTV Basketball League with a 79-73 points victory over Union Bank, will be out to consolidate their hold at the top. The win by the Islanders made them complete a double over the Union Bank, having defeated them by 115-93 points in their first meeting last month.
Union Bank, who came into the game with vengeance in mind, won the first quarter narrowly by 15-13 points, while the charged Islanders players came back strongly in the second quarter with a 17-16 points’ victory to move into the break with one point deficit of 31-30 points.
In the third quarter, the Shola Alayande captained Islanders made good use of court run and vision to dominate their opponents. They won the third and fourth quarters 26-20 and 23-22 points to maintain their hundred percent record with a 79-73 points victory.
Islanders combo guard, Anyebe Alexandra, led his side with 17 points, forward Kingsley Aguara added 16 points just as the duo of Cameroon import; William Ndoumbe and Azuoma Dike contributed 14 points each.
Union Bank small forward Ugbede Oguche’s 19 points and Seyi Ayodele 14 points were not enough to save their side from defeat.
They will be away to Delta Force Basketball Club of Asaba.
