KENYA : KPA out to conquer the region

Rwanda’s armed forces side APR will provide the biggest challenge to the Kenya Ports Authority teams in the Fiba Africa Zone Five championships which start in Kampala on Monday, coach Anthony Ojukwu said.

The Rwandese team has Kenya international Purity Adhiambo in its ranks.
“APR should be the main team to watch at this years club championships after they defeated us in the classification matches of the Africa Club championships in Nairobi last year, but we have prepared well and should be in a position to tame them,” Ojukwu said.

The coach spoke after after the team received the flag from the KPA Human and Resource Controller Salim Chingabwe on Wednesday.
He named an almost unchanged women side for the event including veterans Ethel Wakesho and Millicent Anyango However, Caroline Arato and Mwajuma Suleiman will not be travelling to Kampala.
Mike Opel will be leading the men’s team which is seeking it’s first Zone Five title while Joyce Makhungu will skipper the women who are the defending champions.

Other country’s expected to send teams in the week long event include hosts Uganda who have entered six teams, three men and three women, Rwanda, Burundi, Ethiopia and Somalia. Meanwhile, the Coast basketball league continues this weekend with eight matches on the card at the KPA Hall Makande
