Henry Malinga, a former MTN-Fuba national Basketball League MVP with Mogas Falcons, is wary that his teammates must erase the mistakes from Wednesday night’s 83-66 victory over Nkumba Marines in order to upstage Kyambogo Warriors at Lugogo Indoor Stadium tonight. “It’s good that I managed to play my game (against Marines) but we committed so many errors that could have cost us against a more solid side,” said Malinga who had a game high 19 points including numerous slum-dunks.

Steven Omony added 18 points and Isaac Lugudde returned from illness to contribute 13 though Falcons still await Francis Tumusiime who failed to recover for Wednesday but was due to have a fitness test for today’s game. “Against Warriors, our defence will be key because we must contain their best players,” Malinga added in highlighting the threat of Ronnie Kasewu, Steve Okias, and Joshua Etalu.

Kasewu ran rings around the DMark Power defence last Friday in scoring 33 points but Warriors still lost 90-88. Malinga also took time to underline highlight preparations for the fourth edition of the Zone V Africa Club Championship which was launched yesterday at Grand Imperial Hotel.

Champions Power, Falcons and Warriors will represent Uganda in the men’s category in the 12-team event set for July 27 to August 2. UCU Lady Canons, A1 Challenge and KCC Leopards will lead the women’s charge.
