TANZANIA : School starts preps for Mombasa tour
By Brown Msyani
Ali Hassan Mwinyi School (Ahmec) will tour Mombasa next month for a series of friendly basketball matches against coastal teams.
School director Solomon Mjema said his boys and girls teams would travel to Kenya when the Dar es Salaam Basketball League (SBL) ends.
The SBL is scheduled to kick off next week at the National Indoor Stadium.
Mjema said the tour would serve to hone his players' skills besides getting international exposure.
"It will be good for my players because theyll experience new challengesweve played against many local teams, thus it's high time we tested ourselves against Kenyan teams," he said.
Last year, the same school teams toured Nairobi and won all their friendly matches.
"In our school, basketball is taught in classrooms like other subjects. Our intention is to uplift the standard of the sport," he said
