SEYCHELLES : National League - Baya thrash Angels, Hawks and Stars march on

IN the absence of sharpshooter Jean-Paul Camille, it was guard Giovannie Laval who led Baya to a crushing 104-79 victory over Anse Boileau-based Angels during their weekend encounter.

Laval scored 30 points – including five treys – while centre Robert Léon chipped in another Laval scored 30 points to lead Baya past Angels27 to steer the defending champions to their seventh consecutive win.

One of the most experienced members of the Baya squad, Laval scored two of his five three-pointers from halfway down the court in the last 40 seconds of the match.

After the match he said he has not yet reached his peak form and is still working hard to impress the fans and help his club defend their league title.

PLS Hawks also registered victory during the weekend. They defeated Cascade Bullets 86-57 to bring their tally to 10 points after five matches.

Neddy ‘Oye’ Fanchette was Hawks’ top scorer with 20 points while with 15 points, captain Kenneth Sophie led the Bullets’ scoring list.

Struggling Premium Cobras showed signs of recovery with their imposing 122-50 win over Beau Vallon Heat. Cobras dominated Heat throughout the match, winning all four quarters – 29-14, 25-14, 33-12 and 35-10.

They now have nine points after playing six matches. Amadou Sylla had the hot hands for Cobras with 27 points, while Pascal Bibi was Heat’s top scorer with 18 points. Beau Vallon Heat have seven points after six matches.

In another match played during the weekend, MBU Rockers beat RC Dynamics 60-37.

With 16 points, captain Nigel Sinon led the Rockers, who have now collected 13 points after seven matches. Wilby Domingue led the scoring for RC Dynamics with 13 points.

Newly promoted Mont Fleuri Dawgz collected their first league win after five matches, beating Praslin Warriors 75-36 to bring their points tally to six after five matches.

The Warriors tail the league table with five points from as many matches.
In the women’s league, Anse Etoile Stars defeated Mont Fleuri 67-57 to bring their total to six points after three matches.

Dina Louis led the Stars with 16 points while Patricia Samynadin was Mont Fleuri’s top scorer with 17 points.

In two men’s division two matches last weekend, Anse Etoile beat Juniors 71-46 and Drifters narrowly edged out LMS Youth 62-60.
