NIGERIA : Tijjani Umar elected Nigeria Federation President yesterday and Pledge total commitment

Former Head of the Media sub-committee of the Nigeria Basketball Federation, NBBF Tijjani Umar was Wednesday unanimously elected as the new president of the Nigeria basketball ruling body.

Umar, a former Nigeria international along side other board members will be in the saddle for the next four years.
FIBA Africa Central board member and President of FIBA Africa Zone-3 Muktar Khaleh were elected as the federation 1st Vice-President while Aniefiok Effiong Ukpe is 2nd Vice-President.

Other board members of the Nigeria federation includes, Babatunde Ogunade, Mustapha Lawal Suleiman, Yusuf Tagwai, Shehu Maijamaa, Ibrahim Saaad, Margaret Abara, Moses Jituboh, a Chief Superintendent of Police and ADC to the nation Vice-President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan and Lt. Col U.O. Olatoye.

Speaking with our correspondent shortly after the election, the NBBF President pledged to remain focus in the task of moving the game forward in Nigeria.

He however, pay glorying tribute to his predecessor, Gyang Buba who is now the paramount ruler in Jos, Plateau State as the Gbong Gwon Jos for achieving some lofty goal for the game in the country.
Umar charged members of the federation to be prepared to go the extra miles in helping to reposition the game.

The NBBF president called on all stakeholders to come forward with useful information that will assist the board in moving the game forward and reposition Nigeria as one of the leading basketball playing nation on the African continent in particular and the World in general.
