SEYCHELLES : Angel Fish-sponsored Curtain-raiser tournament - HotShots and Stars in repeat women’s final


IT’S going to be a repeat of last year’s women’s final after HotShots booked their tickets on Tuesday at Victoria Gymnasium.

The Anse Boileau-based team had no trouble dispatching Cadettes 93-32 to set up another HotShots and Stars will meet on Sunday in a repeat finalexciting match against rivals Anse Etoile Stars.

HotShots walked over Juniors in the quarterfinals, while Cadettes won a bye straight into the last-four stage.
As for defending champs Stars, they trounced RA Sisters 93-54 in their first match last Saturday and disposed of Mont Fleuri 72-49 in the semifinal on Sunday.

The Stars were 70-57 winners over HotShots in the final of last year’s tournament sponsored by Jhelum and they will surely have a fight on their hands against the 2008 league champions as they aim to keep the cup, funded by Angel Fish this time.
The final is slated for Sunday at 3pm at the Palais des Sports.

In the men’s version of the tournament, reigning champions PLS Hawks were up against league winners Baya yesterday for a semifinal spot against surprise team Razors, who eliminated last year’s division two champions Mont Fleuri Dawgz (53-51) and top division side MBU Rockers (76-65 in overtime after the score was tied 62-62 at the end of normal playing time).

The other semifinal is between Premium Cobras and Angels today. Cobras progressed to the last-four stage with a 78-65 victory over Cascade Bullets on Monday after beating LMS Jazz 122-33 in their first encounter.

First divisioners Angels walked over Juniors and dispatched RA Herons 76-46 in the quarters to make the semis.
