NIGERIA : Raptors beat First Deepwater in fitness test
In her bid to be ready for the challenges ahead, First Deepwater basketball club last Friday engage a male team (Raptors basketball club) in a fitness-test-match at the sports hall of the national stadium, Lagos.
The match according to the Head Coach of the Oil and Gas ladies, Lateef Erinfolami was meant to prepare the players fitness level for the crunchy ties ahead was won by the Charles Ibeziako tutored Raptors side by 65-52 points.
The match played over five quarters as against the normal four quarters meant for a normal basketball game has the First Deepwater ladies winning two quarters (12-08 and 17-12) of the five quarters with the Raptors side picking three quarters (11-09, 24-06 and 0-08) the biggest win for the Raptors came in the third quarter when they powered passed the Erinfolami tutored First Deepwater ladies by 24-06.
Coach Erinfolami, however, thumbed-up the performance of his players and promised that the team will be set for the league.
“I am pleased with the players out-put against an all male-team today (last Friday) and I have absolute confidence that they will be set for the Nigeria Women League.
“As you can see we are setting the pace for other clubs to follow and we are proud of such feat.
“Playing an all-men team will be a continuous process because we are aiming at something and that is to get each of the players prepared for the big task ahead of us, concluded Coach Erinfolami.
First Deepwater is expected to take on the Raptors in a rematch on Friday and other men teams in her bid to raise the best team.
