GHANA : Hoops loose to Shepherds in Tema League
Cape Coast Hoops played one of their best game ever in the Tema League but yet went down to the Shepherds. The game which was full of fireworks from the beginning saw both sides playing excellent basketball. Spectators rooted for both sides as the pendulum changed from time to time. The first quarter ended 22-21 in favor of the boys from Cape Coast while the second quarter ended 35-39 in favor of Shepherds. The third quarter saw most of the Hoops top players in foul trouble and had to sit out. Two of the best offensive players foul out slowing down the attacking power the squad. Nonetheless, the other boys stood their grounds until the final whistle. The team which played man to man defense from the beginning where still confident that their game plans were working as most of the Shepherds players were held under four points. majority of their points came from veteran player Meme who visited the foul line more than ten times shooting a high percentage. At the end of the game some spectators claimed bad officiating but we think that we also should had taken every chance we had. Morale is still high among the boys as they know in the end they will be the ultimate winners of the league. Next Sunday is against Tema Youth which will bring the first round to an end. Expected to return in action is Alinko and Saheed who has return from their break in Nigeria. Hoops man of the match was K. Dewee who had a good game scoring ten points two boards and a steal follow by O. Azuazu who had eight points and eight rebounds three assists. Others in the line up included, J. Amu, P. Ashong, E. Maluta, D. Benjamin, H. Mensah, A. Ben Anas, K. Baffoe, J. Akpabio and returning to the team, Sunday Mahaja. Making his debut was Kelvin Yeboah.
